You have a long day ahead of you and your computer won't turn on. What do you do? First step: don't panic! Usually it's a simple fix. Just follow these steps and you should be back up and running in no time.
Initial Troubleshooting
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
- Release the power button
- Turn on your computer
Working? If so, great! If not, there's still hope. Give these steps a try:
Laptops
- Unplug the power cord
- Carefully turn your laptop around and remove the battery
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
- Reinstall the battery and plug the power cord back in
- Turn on your laptop
Desktops
- Unplug the power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
- Plug the power cord back in
- Turn on your computer
